The Audax Big Hills 8 is the eighth edition of one of Malaysia’s most legendary and demanding long-distance cycling challenges. Organised by Audax Randonneurs Malaysia, this ride takes cyclists through the formidable Cameron Highlands–Gua Musang corridor — a route defined by relentless climbs, sweeping mountain descents, and raw natural beauty. Every year, only a handful of riders manage to conquer it. If you think you can climb, this is your proving ground.

Categories

This year, Big Hills 8 offers three categories to suit different experience levels:

• BRM200 (200km) — A Brevet de Randonneurs Mondiaux over 200km, ridden within the official ACP time limit. A successful completion earns an ACP homologation number.
• BRM600 (600km) — The full Big Hills experience: a gruelling 600km loop completed within the ACP time limit. This is the ultimate test of endurance, navigation, and willpower.
• Permanent 300 — Tourist Category (300km, untimed) — New for 2026, this non-BRM category allows riders to experience the same iconic Simpang Pulai to Gua Musang route as a relaxed two-day group ride. Ride Day 1 to Gua Musang, rest overnight, then return on Day 2 at your own pace. No ACP homologation is awarded, but you’ll share the road, the jersey, and the spirit with the BRM heroes.

Route Highlights

All categories depart from Golden Roof Hotel, Ipoh (Simpang Pulai) and head into the hills toward Gua Musang, Kelantan — crossing some of the most challenging mountain terrain in Peninsular Malaysia. The route is self-navigated; riders must get their brevet cards stamped at designated checkpoints (controls) along the way. BRM600 riders complete the full return loop, while Permanent 300 riders may also opt to ride one way only and arrange their own transport back to Ipoh from Gua Musang.

What You Get

Early bird registrations (before 7 June 2026) receive a limited edition Audax Big Hills 8 jersey included in the registration fee of RM105. An event T-shirt is also available. BRM200 and BRM600 finishers who complete within the ACP time limit will earn an official ACP homologation number. This is a self-supported endurance ride — not a race — so all riders are encouraged to prepare thoroughly, respect the route, and ride within their abilities. Earned, Not Given.
