The Muar Challenge Ride 2027 starts and finishes at Dataran Tanjung Emas in Muar, Johor, on Sunday, 28 March 2027, running from 7:00am to 1:00pm. There are three distances: a 112km and a 76km competitive category, both timed and split into age groups with prizes awarded on ranking and timing, and an 18km fun ride that is open to everyone with no category breakdown and a 30km/h speed limit. The organisers expect around 1,000 cyclists.
The 76km and 112km fields are divided into Men Junior (18-24), Men Open (25-34), Men Junior Veteran (35-50), Men Senior Veteran (51 and above), Women Open (19-35) and Women Veteran (36 and above), with age taken as at 31 December 2027. Only road bikes, mountain bikes and folding bikes are allowed, and aero extensions, TT bars and TT bikes are not. Rider briefing is at 6:45am, then the 112km flags off at 7:00am, the 76km at 7:15am and the 18km at 8:00am. The organisers expect the first rider back around 9:30am, with prize giving at 11:30am. The published route maps keep the 18km loop inside Muar town, while the two longer routes head south along the coast towards Parit Jawa before looping inland through the kampung roads. The 112km goes further, east to Parit Sulong, and returns along the coast through Semerah.
Every rider gets a bib, event T-shirt and finisher medal. The 76km and 112km categories add timing, a cycling jersey and eligibility for prizes: the top 5 podium places pay RM500, RM400, RM300, RM200 and RM100 in cash. Goodie bags are collected at TMIYC Muar on 26 and 27 March 2027, 10:00am to 8:00pm.
Registration is on CheckPointSpot and runs in three windows: a first early-bird window from 15 October to 30 November 2026, a second from 1 to 31 December 2026, and normal registration from 1 January to 20 March 2027. Normal fees are RM200 for the 112km, RM170 for the 76km and RM60 for the 18km. Registering by 30 November takes RM40 off the 112km, RM30 off the 76km and RM10 off the 18km, so RM160, RM140 and RM50. December entries get a smaller discount. CheckPointSpot adds an 8% processing fee on top of every price. The organiser is Monticello Cycle, the bike shop on Jalan Abdullah in Muar, which also ran the Johor Century Ride from the same square in December 2024.
The posters call the middle distance 76km, but the registration form still lists it as 78KM. Expect the route on the day to be somewhere around 76-78km.
