Shah Alam Velodrome Open 2026

The Shah Alam Velodrome Open is Selangor’s biggest track cycling event, held at the recently refurbished Shah Alam Velodrome. This outdoor velodrome has been a training ground for Malaysian track cycling talent for decades and now features improved banking, lighting, and facilities. The open meet format welcomes riders of all levels, from seasoned track specialists to road cyclists looking to try something different.

The event program includes individual sprint, keirin, scratch race, points race, and individual pursuit. Riders can enter multiple events, with the schedule designed to allow adequate rest between races. For newcomers, a compulsory track safety briefing and familiarisation session is held on the morning of the event, covering track etiquette, race rules, and basic handling skills on the banking.

Track bikes are mandatory (fixed gear, no brakes), and a limited number of rental bikes are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Helmets must meet track racing standards. The velodrome’s open-air design means racing takes place under tropical skies, and the evening events under floodlights create an exciting atmosphere. Shah Alam Velodrome is easily accessible from the Shah Alam KTM station, making it convenient for riders across the Klang Valley.
