The Perak Enduro MTB Series opens its 2026 season on the spectacular limestone karst trails around Ipoh. The dramatic geology of Perak’s Kinta Valley creates a unique riding environment, with trails weaving between towering limestone cliffs, through cave systems, and across jungle-covered ridgelines. The enduro format emphasises downhill skill and speed, with four timed stages connected by untimed pedal transfers.
The four stages range from fast, flowing singletrack to technical, rock-garden descents. Stage 1 drops off the Gunung Lang ridgeline through tight switchbacks and exposed rock; Stage 2 is a jungle flow trail with berms and small drops; Stage 3 features the most technical terrain with limestone slabs and root networks; Stage 4 is the crowd-favourite, a fast, open descent to the finish area. Total timed descending is approximately 12 minutes for elite riders.
A full-suspension enduro bike with 150-170mm travel is recommended. The liaison stages involve significant climbing on jungle trails, so fitness is important despite the downhill focus. Riders should carry a hydration pack, spare tube, and basic tools. Practice runs on all stages are available on the Saturday before race day. Ipoh is renowned for its food scene, so post-race celebrations inevitably involve white coffee, bean sprout chicken, and ipoh hor fun at one of the city’s famous eateries.
