National Velodrome Track Open 2026

The National Velodrome Track Open gives all licensed track cyclists the opportunity to race on Malaysia’s flagship indoor velodrome in Nilai. This world-class facility features a 250-metre wooden track built to UCI standards, the same boards where Malaysia’s track cycling heroes like Azizulhasni Awang and Muhammad Shah Firdaus have honed their craft. Racing on this surface is a thrilling experience that every track cyclist in the country should have.

The event program covers six disciplines: individual sprint, keirin, flying 200m time trial, scratch race, points race, and individual pursuit. Categories include Men’s and Women’s Open, Junior, and Masters divisions. The flying 200m time trial is particularly popular, as it gives riders a chance to test their maximum speed on the fast indoor surface where times are typically 1-2 seconds faster than outdoor velodromes.

A valid track cycling license from the Malaysian National Cycling Federation or an equivalent foreign federation is required for entry. Track bikes meeting UCI specifications are mandatory (no brakes, fixed gear, drop bars). The air-conditioned indoor environment means racing takes place in consistent conditions regardless of weather. The venue has excellent spectator areas, a cafe, and changing facilities. Nilai is accessible from KL via the KLIA Transit line or a 45-minute drive on the North-South Expressway.
