Malaysia Gran Fondo Series
The Malaysia Gran Fondo Series kicks off its 2026 season with the Selangor Round, based at the scenic Templer Park area north of Kuala Lumpur. This national series visits a different state each month, with cumulative points and rankings for riders who compete in multiple rounds. The Selangor opening round sets the tone with a demanding route through the foothill roads that connect the Klang Valley to the highlands.
The 120km route heads north from Templer Park through Kuala Kubu Bharu and into the lower slopes of the Titiwangsa range, featuring several significant climbs including the winding ascent to Gap (Fraser’s Hill access road junction). The terrain is relentless, with virtually no flat sections, making this a true test of climbing fitness early in the season. The 60km option covers the most scenic sections with moderate climbing, suitable for riders building their gran fondo experience.
The Malaysia Gran Fondo Series uses chip timing and age-group classifications, with podium prizes and series points at each round. Riders can enter individual rounds or purchase a season pass covering all eight rounds across the country at a significant discount. The series awards overall champion jerseys in each age category at the season finale. This opening round typically attracts the strongest field, as riders are fresh and eager to establish early series leads.
