The Langkawi Gran Fondo is a world-class sportive set on one of Southeast Asia’s most beautiful islands. Langkawi’s dramatic landscape of limestone karst hills, pristine beaches, and dense rainforest provides a cycling experience unlike any other in Malaysia. The 2026 edition features three distances that explore every corner of the island, from the bustling Pantai Cenang strip to remote fishing villages on the northern coast.
The 160km route completes a double loop of the island, including the punishing climb over Gunung Raya, Langkawi’s highest peak at 881m. This climb features gradients of up to 15% through dense jungle canopy, rewarding riders at the summit with panoramic views of the archipelago. The 110km route includes a single island loop with the Gunung Raya climb, while the 60km option takes the flatter coastal roads along the south and east coasts.
Aid stations are positioned every 20km, stocked with isotonic drinks, energy gels, bananas, and local delicacies. The event village at Pantai Cenang features a cycling expo, bike wash service, and post-ride celebration with local food and live music. Langkawi’s duty-free status makes it an affordable destination, and many participants combine the event with a holiday. Ferry services from Kuala Kedah and flights from KL, Penang, and Singapore connect easily to the island.
