The KL Fixed Gear Alleycat is an underground-meets-mainstream checkpoint race that sends fixed-gear riders navigating through the labyrinth of Kuala Lumpur’s streets. Based at REXKL, the repurposed art deco cinema in Chinatown, this event celebrates the city’s vibrant fixed-gear cycling subculture. Riders receive a manifest of checkpoints at the start and must visit each one in any order, with the fastest rider to complete all checkpoints winning.

Checkpoints are scattered across KL’s diverse neighbourhoods, from the bustling streets of Chow Kit to the quiet alleys of Brickfields, the street art of Kwai Chai Hong to the rooftop gardens of TTDI. Each checkpoint features a unique stamp or photo challenge. The route is typically 25-30km in total, but the real challenge is navigation, traffic management, and the ability to read the city like a local.

Fixed-gear and single-speed bikes only. The event embraces KL’s cycling subculture, with a strong emphasis on style, community, and urban exploration. The after-party at REXKL features DJs, a bike showcase, and food from Chinatown’s legendary hawker stalls. This is not a sanctioned race, and riders are responsible for obeying traffic laws. Helmets are mandatory, and front and rear lights are required.
