The Kota Bharu Flood Relief Charity Ride is an annual fundraiser supporting communities affected by the northeast monsoon flooding that impacts Kelantan almost every year. December timing is deliberate, raising awareness during the monsoon season and channelling funds directly to affected families. The event has become a symbol of the Kelantanese cycling community’s solidarity with flood-affected neighbours.

The 60km route follows the Kelantan River southward, passing through villages that experience regular flooding, before looping back via inland roads. The route is intentionally designed to show riders the communities they are helping, creating an emotional connection to the cause. The 30km route stays closer to Kota Bharu, passing through the historic royal precinct and the vibrant Siti Khadijah Market.

All net proceeds are donated to the Kelantan Flood Relief Committee for disbursement to affected families. Every rider receives a certificate acknowledging their contribution, and top fundraisers are recognised at the post-ride ceremony. The ride takes place in the late December dry spell that typically occurs between monsoon pulses, but riders should be prepared for the possibility of wet conditions. Post-ride, enjoy Kota Bharu’s legendary nasi kerabu and ayam percik, widely regarded as among the best in Malaysia.
