The Kluang Century Ride starts from one of Malaysia’s most charming railway stations, a heritage building that has become synonymous with the town’s famous railway coffee and toast. Kluang sits at the heart of Johor’s agricultural interior, surrounded by rolling hills, cattle ranches, and fruit orchards that create a quintessentially Malaysian cycling landscape.
The 160km route forms a grand loop through the districts of Kluang, Kahang, and Mersing-bound roads before returning via the southern plantations. The terrain is genuinely rolling, with constant short climbs and descents that accumulate significant elevation gain despite no single major climb. The 100km option stays closer to Kluang, looping through the town’s surrounding estates and kampung areas. The 50km route is a gentle introduction to Kluang’s roads, suitable for newer riders.
Kluang’s railway heritage adds unique character to this event. The start at the railway station features the town’s famous kopi and toast (included in the entry fee), served from the original station cafe that has been operating since 1938. The post-ride celebration also takes place at the station, with Kluang’s excellent local food as the centrepiece. The town is accessible by rail from JB and KL on the east coast line, making it possible to bring your bike by train.
