The JB Night Ride is southern Malaysia’s most popular nocturnal cycling event, transforming the streets of Johor Bahru into a two-wheeled celebration after sunset. Starting from the vibrant Danga Bay waterfront, riders cruise through the city under a canopy of streetlights, past landmarks including the Sultan Ibrahim Building, JB City Square, and along the scenic Straits of Johor waterfront with views of Singapore’s skyline glittering across the water.
The 50km route extends beyond the city centre into the quieter suburbs of Iskandar Puteri, passing Legoland Malaysia and the Puteri Harbour development before looping back along the coast. The 25km route stays within the JB city limits, making it ideal for casual riders and families. Both routes are fully marshalled with rolling road closures, and all participants must have front and rear lights fitted to their bikes.
The event kicks off at 8pm, taking advantage of cooler evening temperatures that make riding in tropical Malaysia considerably more comfortable. The post-ride party at Danga Bay features food stalls, a DJ, and prize draws for participants. JB’s proximity to Singapore means this event attracts a large cross-border contingent; riders from Singapore can easily bring their bikes across the Causeway via the dedicated cycling lane.
