Jelajah Malaysia is the nation’s most important domestic road cycling stage race, organised by the Malaysian National Cycling Federation. The 2026 edition features six stages starting in Putrajaya and finishing in Terengganu, covering approximately 900km through some of the peninsula’s most challenging terrain. The race serves as a critical selection event for riders aiming to represent Malaysia at the Asian Games and SEA Games.
The route typically includes a mix of flat sprint stages, hilly stages through the Titiwangsa mountain range, and a decisive time trial. Key stages pass through Cameron Highlands and the Fraser’s Hill area, where steep gradients separate the climbers from the pack. The final stages along Terengganu’s coastline provide opportunities for breakaways and sprint finishes.
For amateur cyclists, Jelajah Malaysia is a fantastic spectator event. The race caravan passes through towns and villages where the atmosphere is electric, with local communities turning out to cheer the peloton. Follow the race on social media for live updates and stage results. Several cycling tour operators offer “follow the race” packages that let you ride sections of each stage route before the professionals come through.
