Desaru International Triathlon 2026

The Desaru International Triathlon is held at the stunning Desaru Coast integrated resort on Johor’s southeastern tip, offering a premium race experience in a world-class setting. The sheltered waters of the South China Sea provide calm, warm swimming conditions, while the bike course takes advantage of the smooth, newly built coastal roads that connect Desaru’s luxury resorts and golf courses.

The Olympic-distance bike course is a flat, fast 40km loop along the Desaru Coast road, passing manicured resort grounds, coconut palm groves, and unspoilt stretches of beach. The Sprint distance covers 20km on the same roads. Both courses are completely flat, making this an ideal event for triathletes chasing fast bike splits. The wide, well-surfaced roads and minimal junctions contribute to safe, uninterrupted riding.

Desaru Coast is accessible via a 90-minute drive from Johor Bahru or a direct ferry from Singapore’s Changi Ferry Terminal, making it popular with Singaporean triathletes. The resort offers special event accommodation packages including race-day logistics support. For those making a weekend of it, Desaru Coast features golf courses, a water theme park, and excellent seafood restaurants. The event is ITU-sanctioned, and qualification slots for Asian Championship events are typically available.
